Model Citizen

Model Citizen is a Tokyo based DJ and Producer. A rising star on the Tokyo club scene, Model Citizen has delighted clubbers with his highly fresh and super original style of Rock, Hard Minimal and Electro House.

With humble roots, Model Citizen began his DJ career in 2005. He was the opening act for a friend’s event at the modest club Enjoy House in Ebisu. Not missing a beat MC quickly established himself as a serious DJ, and soon after, he was  playing larger clubs in Tokyo such as Bullets, Pink Cow and the now famous Synergy Parties at Womb – one of the largest clubs in Asia.

In 2007 Model Citizen began organizing his own “Sugar Bird Tech” events with partner and fellow DJ Will2Live. The event was held at the small club OVO in Naka Meguro. The parties were a phenomenal success and soon after he moved the party to a larger venue. In December 2008 Model Citizen organized one of the best parties of the year “Spaceman” at Ultra Lounge Roppongi with headliners Ko Kimura and Rennie Foster.

“Spaceman” was massive and MC was quickly asked to guest DJ at other parties around Tokyo. His big break came in early 2009 when Tokyo local hero DJ Vivid (and manager Anthony) invited him to headline side-stage at the now famous Turned On event at Club Asia.

Shortly after Model Citizen was moved to main stage playing along side Vivid at Aoyama’s Velours and Chicago’s Steve Smooth at Club Ever.

He recently brought the house down as a headliner at Turned On’s 2^nd Anniversary party at Club Asia, Shibuya. Along with DJ Vivid and L.A.’s Heavy Grinder,  Model Citizen rocked the house,  and showed why he is considered one of Japan’s best new talents.

The MC story continues today with more big shows being lined up for 2009 and beyond. Also expect his first original production due out later this year. Model Citizen (aka Mike Armstrong) is originally from Toronto, Canada.
